The Ceilidh Place is a multifaceted establishment nestled in the epic and beautiful surroundings of Wester Ross in the Scottish Highlands. This unique venue, born from the aspirations of actor Robert Urquhart in 1970, has evolved from a small café in a boatshed into a vibrant hub for eating, meeting, talking, singing, and being. Today, The Ceilidh Place encompasses a Hotel, Bunkhouse, Café/Bar, Restaurant, Bookshop, and Music Venue, each offering its own charm and appeal.

Comfortable and Quaint Accommodations

Hotel Rooms:
All it’s rooms are designed to offer a cosy and comfortable experience. They are simply furnished, most with a private bathroom, and do not include televisions. Instead, each room is equipped with a classy radio and a well-stocked bookshelf, with books selected by various well-known readers.

Bunkhouse:
For those looking for a more budget-friendly option, the bunkhouse offers basic bunk-bedded rooms for one to four persons. Located across the car park in the Clubhouse, it can accommodate up to 32 guests, ideal for walking/cycling clubs, large family gatherings, or those who prefer to spend more on experiences than accommodations.

Living Room and Honesty Bar:
The living room, with its adjoining pantry, is the sociable heart of the hotel. Here, guests can make tea and coffee any time of the day or night. The honesty bar allows guests to pour their own drinks, creating a comfortable and trusting environment. This space is perfect for socializing, reading, or simply enjoying the balcony views on sunny days.

Culinary Experiences and Social Hub at the Ceilidh Place

Café/Bar:
The café/bar, where The Ceilidh Place’s journey began, is well-stocked with a variety of drinks, including a wide selection of gins from the Hebridean Islands and an extensive wine list. The knowledgeable staff are happy to guide guests through a tour of Scotland with our various drams.

Restaurant:
Led by Scott Morrison for over 15 years, the restaurant transforms in the evening, ready to serve inventive and locally-sourced dishes. The menu features favourites from the last five years, along with daily specials that allow our chefs to express their creativity. The emphasis is on local produce, including deer, lamb, fish, and seasonal vegetables.

A Hub for Culture and Arts

Live Music Venue:
It’s venue has a rich history of hosting performers, ranging from theatre performances to live bands and comedians. Celebrated artists like Rab Noakes, Dick Gaughan, and Karine Polwart have graced the stage, contributing to it’s reputation as an award-winning music venue.

Bookshop and Art Exhibitions:
The bookshop offers a wide range of titles across various genres, from contemporary fiction to Gaelic books. Additionally, The Ceilidh Place functions as an art gallery, showcasing works from both emerging and established Scottish artists, with exhibitions changing regularly.

Private Functions:
They cater to a variety of events, including weddings, anniversaries, christenings, and wakes. The venue offers both a smaller private dining room and the option to hire the entire dining area and bedrooms, tailoring to various group sizes and budgets.

Support for Artists and Writers:
The Ceilidh Place has always been a supportive hub for artists, writers, and musicians, providing a platform for new work. Our unique gallery spaces and regular exhibitions offer a window into the creative pulse of the Scottish arts scene. Original artworks, curated over many years, adorn the public areas and bedrooms, creating an immersive artistic experience for guests.
